Sarah Wiki-Bennett is of Te Aupōuri whakapapa and brings over 24 years of experience in education, including 20 as a Primary School Principal and Senior Leadership roles.  Sarah continues to serve on two school Boards, as well a Board Director for a charitable trust which organises events to raise monies for mental health in Aotearoa. Before joining UC, she served as the Executive Manager for Governance Services at Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu, collaborating closely with the Iwi Kaiwhakahaere (Chair), Board Directors, and CEO, and building strong connections with Papatipu rūnanga. Sarah is passionate about guiding research relationships with Māori, providing cultural insights, and applying the Government’s Vision Mātauranga policy to underscore the broader impacts of research on Māori communities. Her role centres on assisting researchers in developing thoughtful and meaningful partnerships with Māori and offering cultural guidance, particularly as UC works with mana whenua to address research related kaupapa.
