About the Event
The WGMSM Conference is a student-led initiative that brings together women and gender-minority students in mathematics, statistics, and data science from across Aotearoa New Zealand. This three-day event provides a welcoming, supportive space for students to present their work, learn from experts, and connect with peers.
The conference features guest speakers from academia and industry, a career panel, and student presentations. Whether you’re an undergraduate considering postgraduate study, a master's or PhD student preparing for a career in research, or a recent graduate exploring options, this conference is for you.
Why Attend?
- Practice presenting your research or a topic of interest in a friendly, student-focused setting.
- Gain insights from academics and professionals on postgraduate study, research, and career opportunities.
- Meet other students and mentors in the mathematical sciences.
- Build confidence for future academic and industry conferences.
- Celebrate International Women in Mathematics Day on May 12 with a supportive community.

- Saturday, May 10: 10 AM – 4 PM
- Sunday, May 11: 10 AM – 4 PM
- Monday, May 12: 9 AM – 1 PM (Panel session + final talks)
