  • TE R讀 RANGAHAU DIRECTOR ELECTED TO ROYAL SOCIETY OF NEW ZEALAND
    Professor Angus Macfarlane has been named as one of the 20 new Fellows elected to the Academy of the Royal Society Te Aprangi. Research by Professor Angus Hikairo Macfarlane (Te Arawa) has had a transformative impact on sociocultural theory and research practice in the context of educational challenges experienced by Mori. His attention toward theorising issues from within both Mori and Western epistemologies has empowered Mori and non-Mori to frame research questions and select methodologies and data-gathering procedures that make sense to Mori whnau and educators and enable Mori to define the criteria for successful research outcomes.

  • FULLBRIGHT泭SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED TO TE R讀 SCHOLAR
    Melissa Derby (Ngti Ranginui) was awarded a Fulbright-Ng Pae o Te Mramatanga Graduate Award泭to study in the USA. Melissa will spend her time at Colorado State University and San Diego State University. The story was featured in the New 厙ぴ勛圖Herald and can be accessed via the link:泭
  • TE R讀 RANGAHAU DIRECTOR WINS COLLEGE AWARD
    Professor Angus Macfarlane (Ngti Whakaue) received the annual award for Research Excellence for the College of Education, Health and Human Development. The award came with a cash prize, and delighted Te R贖 members, who offer their heartfelt congratulations to Professor Macfarlane.

  • TE R讀 SENIOR RESEARCHER WINS TOP NATIONAL AWARD
    Associate Professor Sonja Macfarlane (Ngti Waewae, Ngi Tahu) was awarded the Te Tohu Pae Tawhiti Award at the annual New 厙ぴ勛圖Association for Research in Education conference in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field of Mori education.   • TE R讀 RANGAHAU WINS COLLEGE AWARD
    At this years annual College of Education, Health and Human Development awards ceremony, Te R贖 Rangahau received the award for Mori Research Team of the Year for excellence in research. The award came with a cash prize, and was met with surprise and humility by Te R贖 members.
  • TE R讀 FELLOW FIRST PASIFIKA RECIPIENT OF NATIONAL AWARD
    UCs Kaiarahi Pasifika, Tufulasi Taleni (Ngti Hmoa), was the first Pasifika recipient of the Rae Munro Award, which recognised excellence in his Masters thesis. Tufulasis thesis is titled泭E saili i tautai se agavaa: A true leader masters the art of navigation:泭The impact of effective leadership in raising engagement and achievement of Pasifika learners in New 厙ぴ勛圖schools and focused on the influence that effective educational leadership has on improving outcomes for Pasifika learners.
  • ANNUAL RESEARCH COLLOQUIUM ENGAGING AND THOUGHT-PROVOKING
    The annual Mori Research Colloquium was held on Friday 3 November and was hosted by the College of Education, Health and Human Development, together with the Office of the AVC Mori and Te R贖 Rangahau. The event was well-attended by educators, practitioners, Mori and Indigenous community leaders, and senior University staff. Highlights of the day include two keynote addresses the first from illustrious Mori educator and leader Sir Toby Curtis (Ngti Rongomai) who was welcomed at the mihi whakatau by another knight and preeminent Mori leader, Sir Tipene ORegan (Ngi Tahu). The second keynote was delivered by Dr Lana Leslie, a Kamilaroi woman from Western Sydney University.泭
  • RELATIONSHIP CEMENTED WITH SYDNEY ACADEMICS
    Te R贖 Rangahau scholars travelled to the University of Sydney to present at a two-day Indigenous research forum hosted by the University of Sydneys School of Education and Social Work's Indigenous Research Collaboration. Te R贖s delegation reciprocated a visit from academics from the University of Sydney, who visited Te R贖 in October 2016 for a two day symposium hosted by Te R贖 Rangahau.

  • TE R讀 SCHOLAR WINS TOP AWARD
    Melissa Derby (Ngti Ranginui), a doctoral candidate in Te R贖 Rangahau was awarded the Brownlie scholarship, which is UCs most prestigious doctoral scholarship given to the highest ranked doctoral candidate across the University.泭
  • RUSSELL BISHOP DRAWS A CROWD AT ANNUAL RESEARCH COLLOQUIUM
    The Office of the AVC Mori, together with Te R贖 Rangahau and Aotahi School of Mori and Indigenous Studies, hosted Professor Emeritus Russell Bishop as the keynote speaker at this years Mori Research Colloquium. Emeritus Professor Bishop is one of Aotearoa New Zealands preeminent scholars, and his address to a packed auditorium was a highlight of the 2016 Colloquium.泭
  • PUSHKIN MASTERPIECE TRANSLATED INTO TE REO
    Te R贖 Rangahau Director Professor Angus Macfarlane and his team translated Russian poet Alexander Pushkins masterpiece, A Wondrous Moment I Remember, into te reo Mori as part of a new publication. Te Hurinui Clarke from Te R贖 Rangahau used his expertise on the challenging task. The poem was translated into 210 languages, including te reo Mori.

  • SOCIOCULTURAL REALITIES泭BOOK LAUNCH
    A new book co-edited by Te R贖 Rangahau Director Professor Angus Macfarlane, Te R贖 Rangahau Associate Professor Sonja Macfarlane, and Dr Melinda Webber from the University of Auckland was launched at Waipapa marae. Sociocultural Realities: Exploring New Horizons scrutinises ethnic and cultural considerations in the hope of helping beginning and experienced teachers, special education advisers, psychologists, university lecturers, education professionals (from early childhood through to tertiary), and families.
